I started CrossFit because I wanted a new challenge. I loved my running, soccer and hot yoga, but decided that I wanted something new. I had purchased a trial offer at another box, but I was actually really scared to try CrossFit and wound up giving that trial membership away to someone else. I was just too scared. But eventually I decided that I needed to get over my fears and at least give it a shot. I was pretty excited when I did because I realized that everything could be modified, and also, that the modified movements were still hard enough to give me an amazing workout. Then I saw people lifting and thought, “I really want to get to that level!!” I absolutely love that I am learning to lift properly and for anyone who knows me, they know…any endurance WOD makes me very happy!
My first bright spot? Honestly, there are so many because I came to CrossFit not being able to do much! I was so excited with my first rope climb, my first pull up (after 4 months of working at them) and being able to do the monkey bars! Now I’m working on being able to do kipping pulls. They are my biggest frustration, so I am, and will forever be, working on them!
My 2 favorite Turbine memories are trying The 2015 CF Open on Friday nights and then retrying each WOD later in the weekend and improving my performance each time. I also love competing in local competitions with the other Turbine women, like the No Baby Leave Your Socks on comp. We have such an amazing group of women who help push each other every time we step into the box.
